Two men rushed to hospital after reports of 'shooting' in Glasgow's east end

Two men have been rushed to hospital after reports of a 'shooting' in the Tollcross area of Glasgow.

Police and emergency services were alerted to the scene outside the 'One Stop Shop' on Tollcross Road around 7.40am this morning.

One local said they heard 'two loud bangs' before police arrived, while another reported that a 'van was shot at' while parked near a shop, The Daily Record reports.

Both men were taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The road remains closed to traffic as investigations continue into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the paper: “Around 7.40 am on Tuesday, 12 January, 2021, police attended a report of two men injured outside the ‘One Stop Shop’ in Tollcross Road, Glasgow.

“Both men have been taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“Tollcross Road is currently closed and traffic diversions are in place.”
