Two men were rushed to hospital after a horror crash on the M77 left a car upside down on the busy motorway this afternoon.
As we reported earlier today, police and ambulance services raced to the scene after the accident just before junction 5 on the northbound carriageway.
A F ord Focus overturned on to its roof at around 2.15pm.
The two male occupants of the car were taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride as a precaution.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.15 pm on Thursday, 31 December, 2020, police were called to a single vehicle road crash, northbound on the M77 between Juncts 6 and 5. Ford Focus overturned on to its roof. Two male occupants taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride as a precaution. No further details re injuries - (not thought any serious injury if any at this time). Road opened. Enquiries are continuing."
One lane was closed following the accident.
The incident saw the second vehicle to end up on its roof on the icy M77 today.
At around 11am an overturned van had to be recovered just down the road between junctions 8 and 9.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.15 pm on Thursday, 31 December, 2020, police were called to a single vehicle road crash, northbound on the M77 between Juncts 6 and 5.
"Ford Focus overturned on to its roof.
"Two male occupants taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride as a precaution.
"The road has now been opened.
"Enquiries are continuing."
