Two men robbed in separate incidents near Paisley town centre

Police are hunting thugs who robbed two men in separate incidents in Paisley.

A 29-year-old was targeted by a knife-wielding cyclist as he walked near the town centre in the early hours.

The attacker pulled up from behind him on an orange bike before demanding cash then grabbing his phone when he refused.

It came days after another man was robbed when a motor pulled alongside him.

Detective Constable Heather Strathearn revealed the ordeal took place in Lady Lane around 5.30am.

She said: “If you witnessed what happened or recognise the description of the man who carried out the robbery please get in touch.”

The victim was walking down the middle of the road outside a funeral directors when he was approached.

The perpetrator was riding an orange cycle.

He raced off towards George Street.

The lout is described as having short hair, wearing a tracksuit, with a scarf covering the lower half of his face.

A man, 21, was also robbed when a car pulled up beside him.

He was walking along Underwood Road near the roundabout at Well Street when the dark-coloured motor stopped.

A passenger got out and demanded money, then fled with a three-figure sum around 7.15pm on Thursday.

The suspect is described as white, with a local accent, around 5ft10 to 6ft, of slim build and wearing a grey hooded top.

Detective Constable David McIntosh is leading the hunt and urged drivers to check their dash-cams for anything that might help.

He said: “We have yet to establish why this man was targeted but whatever the reason, we need to trace those responsible.

“The car was on the other side of the road as the man walked along Underwood Road.

“It did a U-turn and drove alongside him.

“Once the suspect took the money, the car drove off at speed.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, who saw the incident or indeed the car speeding off, to get in touch.

“If your car has a dash-cam, we would like to hear from you as well as it may have captured some of the incident and that would assist our enquiry.”

Neither men were injured during the incidents, but were left shaken.

Anyone with information on either incident should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
