Two men rescued off coast of Wicklow after jetski runs out of fuel

Two men were rescued off the coast after the jetski they were on ran out of fuel.

The men, aged 40 and 50, were left stranded off the coast of Arklow, Co Wicklow, on Easter Sunday.

The pair were in difficulty as their out-of-power jetski floated dangerously close to a rocky shoreline near Arklow’s North Pier.

Volunteers from Arklow RNLI were sent out to rescue the two men after a request from the Irish Coast Guard at around 3pm on Sunday.

Mark Corcoran, Community Safety Officer, at Arklow RNLI said: “Thankfully this shout ended well.

“Given the fantastic weather we’ve had this weekend, we’ve seen higher numbers of people coming back to the beaches and putting their boats and other craft back in the water earlier than usual.

“We’d like to remind people to respect the water and always wear a lifejacket and carry a means of calling for help when going out on the water.”
