Two men rescued after boat flips in Myall River

The Westpac rescue helicopter was kept busy on Saturday.

Two men have been rescued clinging to mangroves in the Myall River after their boat flipped on Saturday afternoon.

The Westpac rescue helicopter said they were tasked to Tea Gardens to execute a winch rescue after reports two men had been thrown into the water when their boat flipped.

The men managed to make their way to the mangroves and the rescue helicopter critical care paramedic was winched in to assist an elderly male who was suffering exhaustion.

He was flown to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition suffering from exhaustion.

The second man was helped to shore by police and assessed by ambulance paramedics.

As well as that rescue, the Westpac rescue helicopter was kept busy on Saturday by a serious motorbike crash at Abermain.

The service said a teenager rider was seriously injured and flown to John Hunter Hospital.
