Two men left in serious condition after car crash

Two men are in hospital with what have been described as 'major-trauma related injuries' after a two-vehicle car crash last night.

Merseyside Police were contacted at 6.30pm, August 3, following reports there had been a crash at the junction of Jackson Street and Manor Street in St Helens.

The incident involved a Vauxhall Adam and a Land Rover and Merseyside Police confirmed the occupants of the Vauxhall were not seriously injured.

The two male occupants of the Land Rover were taken to hospital where they both remain in a serious condition and the force is now asking for anyone with dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage to come forward as they may have vital information.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were also on the scene and said upon arrival, one vehicle was "on its roof."

In a statement today, Merseyside Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in St Helens last night, Tuesday 3 rd August.

"We were contacted at 6.30pm following reports there had been a collision at the junction of Jackson Street and Manor Street involving a Vauxhall Adam and a Land Rover.

"The two male occupants of the Land Rover were taken to hospital where they both remain in a serious condition.

"The occupants of the Vauxhall were not seriously injured."

Sergeant Mike Clarey from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Jackson Street and Manor Street around 6.30pm who saw either the collision or the lead up to it to contact us.

"I am particularly asking for anyone with dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage to come forward as they may have information which is vital to our investigation."

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue spokesperson told the ECHO police where at the scene upon their arrival.

They said: "We were alerted at 6.34pm and on the scene at 6.39pm. We sent two fire engines to the scene and it was a two-vehicle collision.

"When we got there everybody was out of the vehicles. One vehicles was on its roof."

North West Ambulance Service said: "Two patients were taken to hospital suffering major-trauma related injuries.

"A third patient also went to hospital."
