Two men knifed in horror attack by members of armed gang

Two men in a car were stabbed by an armed gang in Salford last night, sparking a huge police presence. Officers were called to the scene on Bury New Road at around 8.15pm on Friday (July 8). They were initially called to a 'report of a concern for the welfare of a man'.

At the scene, they found two men with knife wounds in a car. Police believe the victims were stabbed by a group of men armed with weapons.

Both remain in hospital in a stable condition. One of the injured men was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs and remains in custody.

A cordon was put in place on Bury New Road and nearby New Hall Road as an investigation was launched last night. An Audi car with smashed windows was pictured behind the police tape.

Forensic officers focused their activity around the car, as well as the area on the main busy road. Glass could be seen strewn across the road where the windows had shattered.

Crime scene investigators placed evidence markers on the street as officers guarded the ends of the cordon. Bury New Road was closed for several hours into the early hours of the morning.
