Aug. 30--Two men were killed in separate shootings in South Los Angeles on Saturday, police said.
The first shooting occurred in the Florence neighborhood overnight and the second in Hyde Park in the afternoon, authorities said.
In the first instance, officers responded to a report of a shooting near 84th Street and South Broadway shortly before 1 a.m. and found a man dead on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds, LAPD spokesman Jack Richter said.
The victim was identified as Trevon Lark, 33, according to the county coroner's office.
About 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of another shooting in the 5000 block of 8th Avenue. They found a 25-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds to his left thigh and lower torso, Richter said.
The victim was alive but in critical condition. He was taken to a hospital, where he died at 3:30 p.m., authorities said.
His name has not been released.
Richter said police have no description of the suspect or suspects in either case.
