Two men have tragically died in two separate road crashes on Saturday.
A man in his 40s was tragically killed after his motorcycle crashed into a roundabout in Co. Monaghan at around 5pm on Saturday afternoon.
The tragic incident occurred on the N2 near Tullyvin where he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The Coroner was notified and his body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where a post-mortem will take place in due course..
Gardai and forensic investigators remained at the scene last night and have appealed for any witnesses or people that may have been in the area to come forward.
Meanwhile a man aged in his 30s was tragically killed following a separate motorcycle crash in Athboy, Co. Meath at around 6pm on Saturday.
The second incident occurred when a motorcycle and a car collided on the N51 at Caucestown.
The driver of the motorcycle, a male aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Coroner was alsonotified and his body was taken to the mortuary at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan where a post-mortem will take place at a later date.
The driver and passenger of the car were treated by paramedics at the scene.
Gardai have also appealed to anyone who may have been in the area of the crash to contact them.
The two horror crashes occurred within an hour of each other in what was a horror day on Irish roads.
