Two men have been killed in a light aircraft crash in Raglan, Monmouthshire.

Fire, ambulance and rescue crews were sent to the scene after the plane came down in a field at around 11.15am on Sunday.

Gwent Police confirmed that two men were pronounced dead at the scene.

“It was a few fields away from us," said Christine Baxter of the nearby Court Robert Arts centre. "It happened before lunchtime, and there were lots of ambulances going down the road.”

The Air Accident Branch, which investigates more than 200 incidents a year, has sent a team of inspectors to look into the cause of the crash.

Road closures were enforced in the Tregare area after the accident.
