Two men jailed after MDMA worth £42,000 found inside sofa during Salford raid

Two Swinton men who were caught with drugs worth more than £40k have been jailed.

Andrew Pierce, 57, of Buchannan Street, and Ernie Wilkes, 33, of Leinster Road, were sentenced to more than eight years in prison on Monday (September 28).

Manchester Crown Court heard how officers executed a warrant at Pierce's home address just after 7am on February 19 this year.

Following a search, a bag of white powder was found underneath a mattress.

Almost half a kilo of MDMA carrying a street value of £42,000 was also discovered inside a sofa.

Police found a total of £27,030 in cash at the address along with drugs debtor's lists, paraphernalia and digital scales.

Wilkes was staying with Pierce at his address at the time.

Drugs seized at the address (GMP)

Wilkes was jailed for six years and six months after pleading guilty to possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.

Peirce was jailed for two years and three months after pleading guilty to allowing his premises to be used in the supply of drugs.

Detective constable David Moran, from GMP's Serious Crime Division, said: "Thanks to the hard work of our officers, we have prevented a significant quantity of drugs from reaching the streets.

"Drugs blight communities and this result shows our ongoing commitment to tackling illegal drugs supply in Greater Manchester.

“Pierce and Wilkes have been put before the courts and they now have a long time in prison to contemplate the foolishness of their actions.”
