Two men injured after early morning police chase ends in Rutherglen road smash

Two men were raced to hospital after an early morning police chase ended in a crash in Rutherglen.

Police were called to Prospecthill Road in Glasgow at around 5.10am on Sunday after reports of an Audi A8 being driven erratically.

Officers then pursed the vehicle before it crashed on Stonelaw Road in Rutherglen.

Both the driver and a passenger were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after the incident.

Police Scotland say it is now probing the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At 5.10am, there were reports of an Audi A8 being driven erratically in the Prospecthill Road area of Catchart on Sunday.

“After a brief pursuit, the vehicle crashed on Stonelaw Road in Rutherglen.

“The 51-year-old male driver and a 26-year-old male passenger were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries remain ongoing.”
