Two men wearing masks terrified an 11-year-old girl as they shouted at her from a van window before getting out and grabbing her by the arm.
The girl ran away before the men, who were wearing Scream and 'IT' the clown masks, got back into the van and drove off.
West Yorkshire Police are appealing for information on the 'suspicious' incident, which happened yesterday (Sept 30) in Barmley.
A statement from West Yorkshire Police read: "Police are appealing for information following a potentially suspicious incident yesterday in Bramley.
"Officers received a report that at around 2.45pm an 11-year-old girl had been approached by two men in a white van on Leeds and Bradford Road.
"The men are reported to have been wearing a ‘Scream’ and an ‘IT’ mask and shouted to the girl from the van window.
"They are then reported to have got out and grabbed the girl by the arm.
"The girl ran away in the direction of Pollard Lane and the van drove off."
Detective Inspector Vicky Alexander said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries into this incident and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or saw a van driving in the area at the time.
“It is unclear what the intentions were of those involved, but we recognise that people will be concerned and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to trace the van.
“Our colleagues in the neighbourhood policing teams will be patrolling the area to reassure the community.
“I would appeal for anyone who has any information which could help with the investigation to get in touch.”
