Two men in hospital after violent assault in Rutherglen

Two men have been taken to hospital after a violent assault in Rutherglen.

The incident occurred in the Mill Street area at around 8.15pm on Monday August 23.

A 52-year-old and 26-year-old were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Their current conditions remain unknown but the force are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault to get in touch.

According to locals, part of the road near the underpass which links Mill Street and Main Street was cordoned off.

Inspector Kevin Miller of Rutherglen Police Station said: "Officers are carrying out enquiries after a 52-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were assaulted in the Mill Street area of Rutherglen at 8.15pm on Monday, 23 August, 2021.

"They were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident, should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting 3155 of 23 August."
