Two men hunted after producing pistol type weapon during Wishaw store robbery

Detectives are appealing for information after a robbery at a store in Wishaw.

At around 8.05pm on Tuesday evening, two men went into the U-Save convenience store, formerly the 10 O’Clock Shop, in Glasgow Road.

One was wearing an all grey tracksuit and the other in all dark clothing.

The man wearing the grey tracksuit then produced a black pistol type weapon and demanded money from the female cashier.

The other man wearing dark clothing stood by within the shop in possession of an unknown weapon.

The duo then made off on foot, in possession of a quantity of cash, along Glasgow Road and onto Marshall Street.

Detective Constable Peter King, of Wishaw Police Station, is appealing for information.

He said: “This despicable act has had a detrimental effect on the female cashier who was extremely frightened by the incident and has been left badly shaken up.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnesses it, or any person matching the description in the area at that time, or who has any information which could help our investigation to contact Wishaw Police Station via 101, quoting reference number 3747 of 24 September.”

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
