Two men found suffering with head injuries after being attacked in Leigh

Two men have been taken to hospital with head injuries after they were attacked in Leigh.

Police were called to reports of an assault on King Street shortly before 3am on Friday, September 27.

Two men were found injured and taken to hospital.

One man was released after being treated, while the second man remains in hospital.

Police have closed off a section of King Street while an investigation takes place.

A number of roads surrounding the scene are also shut and commuters are being advised to avoid the area where possible.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: "Shortly 3am this morning (September 27, 2019), police were called to King Street, Leigh to reports that two men had been found injured after being assaulted.

"The men were taken to hospital, with both suffering from head injuries. One has been released following medical treatment and the second man is receiving ongoing medical care.

"There is currently a scene in place and enquiries are ongoing to confirm the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"A number of road closures are in place in the area surrounding the scene so commuters are advised to avoid the area where possible."
