Two men are fighting for their lives after their car was involved in a serious crash on a road near Loch Lomond.
The 18-year-old and 20-year-old were travelling in a red Audi TT when it collided with a white Volkswagen Tiguan on the A811 Old Military Road near Gartocharn, West Dunbartonshire.
Other motorists are said to have stopped and rushed to the aid of both vehicles' occupants before emergency services arrived.
Police say the duo in the Audi were rushed by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow last night.
Medical staff say the pair's condition is "critical".
The 45-year-old sole female occupant of the Volkswagen SUV was also taken to hospital for treatment, but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Road policing officers have launched an appeal for information and dashcam footage following the horrific smash at around 9.35pm on Thursday, April 21.
Inspector Gill Gardner, from the Dumbarton Road Policing Unit, said: “We’re appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident or the vehicles involved to please come forward.
“We are particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have dashcam footage, as this could help us establish the full circumstances which led to this crash.
“I would also extend my thanks to the members of the public who stopped and provided assistance to the occupants of both vehicles.
