Two men escape from central Queensland prison farm

Police are on the hunt for two prisoners who have escaped from a correctional centre in central Queensland.

Jermaine Lee Anderson, 30, and Brian Illington Trent Tapim, 23, broke out of the Capricornia Correctional Centre prison farm, north of Rockhampton, overnight.

Anderson is serving a six-year sentence for robbery with actual violence, while Tapim was sentenced to six and a half years' jail for assault.

Queensland Corrective Services has declined to comment on how the men escaped.

Residents in the area have been warned via text message to look out for the prisoners, and to contact police rather than approach them if they are spotted.

Anderson is described as having a medium complexion, hazel eyes, dark brown hair and what authorities have described as a coloured tattoo of the Southern Cross star on his neck.

Tapim is clean shaven, has brown eyes, no beard and short, balding hair.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
