Two men have died after their boat capsized on Moreton Bay off Brisbane.
Police said the alarm was raised by a passing yacht around 1:30pm.
When Brisbane Water Police and a rescue helicopter arrived at the scene, one man was being treated aboard the yacht.
One man drowned while the second man was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, but he also died.
Inspector David Candale said information given to police suggested the men were the only people on the boat when it capsized.
"At this point in time we have emergency services still deployed in the area conducting a search, but at this stage it's only going to be the two males involved in the incident," he said.
"A boat that was passing by had observed the boat overturned. They immediately stopped and rendered assistance to one of the men and pulled that person from the water," Inspector Candale said.
"As you can imagine, certainly witnessing an event like this would be distressing for any person and I would imagine it would be a similar situation for those persons on that boat."
Police are yet to identify the men who died.
