Two men are dead after a light plane crashed in bushland on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

The aircraft was reported missing on Wednesday about 5.30pm after it failed to return to the Sunshine Coast Airport at Maroochydore.

Following a multi-agency search, the plane was found at Peachester three hours later, with the two occupants, aged 46 and 30, found dead at the scene.
