Two men dead after car smashes into Fife house

Two men have died after a car crashed into a house in a Fife town in the early hours of this morning.

Officers from Police Scotland and firefighters were called to Windygates Road in Leven at around 3am on Friday, July 17 after reports a car had collided with a building.

Paramedics also attended however the 27 and 29-year-old men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Cops have closed the road as they launch an investigation into the circumstances around the incident.

Pictures from the scene show the side of the house almost caved in following the impact of the car.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a car colliding with a building on the Windygates Road, Leven, around 3am on Friday, 17 July, 2020.

"Emergency services attended and two men, aged 27 and 29, were pronounced dead at the scene.

"The road is currently closed while officers are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of the crash."

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 3.04am on Friday, July 17 to reports of an road traffic collision involving one car and a building near Windygates Road, Leven.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances.

“Crews have now left the area.”
