Two men charged over Greenock attempted murder bid

Two men are to appear in court charged with the attempted murder of a woman in Greenock .

The 37-year-old was left fighting for her life in hospital after the incident in the town's Belville Street on Friday evening.

A 43-year-old man was allegedly seriously assaulted in the same incident.

Police have since confirmed that two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

They are due to appear in court tomorrow.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Two men, aged 31 and 36, have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. 

"Both men are due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Monday 1 July 2019".
