Two men charged over alleged attack at Cardiff's Dar Ul-Isra Mosque

Police have charged two men arrested in connection with an incident outside the Dar Ul-Isra Muslim Educational and Welfare Centre in Cardiff .

Police were called to the mosque in Wyverne Road, Cathays , at 1.23am on Sunday, June 2.

Luke Anthony Thomas, 19, from Rumney , has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and wounding.

Liam John Thomas, 18, from Gabalfa , has been charged with two counts of assault.

First Minister Mark Drakeford has spoken out to express his support for the community following the attack .

The First Minister, who visited the Dar Ul-Isra mosque in the  Cathays  area after the attack in the early hours of Sunday morning, described the incident as sending a "bolt of fear" through communities but said it was an "isolated" incident.

Police have confirmed both men have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
