Two men charged in connection with murder of Wayne Whelan in Lucan

Two men have been charged in connection with the shooting of Wayne Whelan in Lucan last month.

The men are set to appear before Blanchardstown District Court on Tuesday morning following the brutal murder which saw the 42-year-old left in a burning car.

Whelan was shot in the back of the head before being left in the vehicle in Mount Andrew Estate, Lucan, on November 18.

Three people, two men and a woman, had been arrested last week and now the two men have been charged.

A garda spokesman said: "The two men arrested in relation to the fatal shooting of a male that occurred in Lucan on Monday, November 18 have been charged in relation to this incident.

"Both men will appear before Blanchardstown District Court on Tuesday, December 17.

"The female arrested on Thursday, December 12 was released without charge on Friday, December 13. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions."
