Two men charged after stabbing near Ayr town centre

Two men have been charged after a stabbing near Ayr town centre on Wednesday night.

Police confirmed the men, aged 21 and 23, were charged in connection with the serious assault of a 27 year-old man in Limonds Wynd Underpass.

The attack saw the victim rushed to Ayr Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Police were called at around 11:45pm after the victim was injured during an altercation.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment to stab wounds.

Both suspects were due to appear in Ayr Sheriff Court on Friday.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Sergeant Jane Hogg, Ayr CID, said: "Tackling violence is a local policing priority for us and I would like to thank the public for their support with this enquiry.
