Two men charged after pensioner allegedly assaulted in Home Bargains in Edinburgh

Two men have been arrested after a pensioner was allegedly assaulted in an Edinburgh Home Bargains store.

A 70-year-old man was hospitalised after the alleged incident broke out at the Niddrie branch.

Police arrived at the scene after the alarm was raised at around 11.50am yesterday.

The victim was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Officers have arrested two men, aged 23 and 41, and they have been charged in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers received a report of an assault having taken place on Niddrie Mains Road, Edinburgh around 11.50am on Wednesday, 5 August, 2020.

“Two men, aged 23 and 41, have been arrested and charged in connection.

"A 70-year-old man attended Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment, and has since been released.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
