Two men caused delays on M60 when they tried to cycle over Barton Bridge with their shopping

Two men caused major delays on the motorway when they were spotted cycling on the M60 near Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The pair, one with an Asda basket, were pictured on Barton Bridge by a member of the public.

The surprised eyewitness said he suspected the pair had 'taken a wrong turn on their shopping trip'.

The car passenger, who asked not to be named, said: "Bit of a shock earlier today (1.10pm).

"There were queues on the M60 anti-clockwise (I presumed for the Trafford centre) but to my surprise the cause was two cyclists struggling to get up Barton Bridge.

"One had an Asda basket.

"Looks like they took a wrong turn on their shopping trip."

Barton Bridge is a high level bridge that spans the Manchester Ship Canal as part of the M60.
