Two men 'assault and rob' man on Luas tracks in Dublin in shocking footage

These are the shocking scenes that took place outside of Dublin's busiest shopping centres as two men allegedly assaulted and robbed another man on the Luas tracks.

The video was taken just before 9pm on Friday night at the Jervis Luas stop in Dublin city centre.

The clip shows two men locked in a tussle before one of them is doubled teamed by his alleged assaulter and a partner running out into the middle of the road.

A pedestrian tries to intervene but cannot separate the trio, as the man who has been captured desperately tries to escape their clutches.

Eventually the trio clear off as an approaching Luas beeps them out of the way, but the man at the middle of the chaos is still being held as they make their way back on to the platform.

A person at the scene told Dublin Live that the man who was attacked was "injured pretty bad".

She added: "This has to stop, people are scared."

Gardai confirmed the man who was attacked also had personal items taken from him during the alleged assault.

A Garda spokesperson told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of robbery from a person that took place at a Luas stop on Abbey Street yesterday evening, Friday 21 August 2020 shortly before 9pm.

"A male, aged in his 20s, received a number of minor injuries when he was allegedly assaulted by two persons. Personal items were also taken from the male during the incident.

"Investigations are continuing."
