Two men arrested over 'unexplained death' of Dublin dad Alan Hall whose body found in Clondalkin

Two men have been arrested over the "unexplained death" of a man in Dublin last month.

The body of dad Alan Hall, 44, was discovered at a house on Bluebell Avenue, Clondalkin on May 18.

Gardai launched an investigation into the tragic death which was described as "unexplained" at the time.

Two men, aged in their 30s, were arrested on Monday morning in connection with the garda probe.

A spokesman said: "Two men in their 30s have been arrested by Gardaí investigating the circumstances of the death of a man (40s) following the discovery of his body in a house on Bluebell Avenue, Clondalkin on 18th May 2020.

"Both men were arrested this morning (8/6/2020) in the Dublin area and are currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Clondalkin and Lucan Garda Stations.

"Investigations are ongoing and further updates will follow."

Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the scene at around 11.20am on the day of May 18 after receiving reports of a fire in the house.

Once the blaze was extinguished by firefighters, his body was found.

Gardai were treating the "unexplained" death as "suspicious".

Mr Hall was originally from the Ferrycarrig area of Coolock.

It is understood that gardai found possible signs of a break in when they arrived at the scene.

The father also had injuries that could be consistent with an attack and the lead line of enquiry is foul play, however gardai were also looking at other possibilities.

Alan, who worked as a butcher, was described as a "lovely, quiet lad" who was known to help out in the community.

One group who knew him well were, A Lending Hand, a service for homeless and struggling people, who described Alan as a "gentleman".

At the time, a spokeswoman for the group told Dublin Live: "He wouldn't harm a fly. He loved a chat and a laugh, and was a very proud man. We are just heartbroken."

"Alan was one of the nicest, soundest blokes you could meet. No human deserves to die the way he did.

"He would always make us laugh at the table, loved a chat and a slagging match because we all hailed from Coolock."
