Two men have been arrested over the alleged murder of a man in Virginia, north of Adelaide, after police called for information from the public yesterday.

A 29-year-old Lewiston man has been charged with the murder of 49-year-old Simon Middleton, who police say was killed in a targeted execution-style murder in the early hours of March 8.

Another man, a 44-year-old from Virginia, has also been arrested and police say they expect to charge him with murder later today.

Police said the 29-year-old handed himself in at the Elizabeth police station, where he was interviewed and charged yesterday.

Police are searching seven homes in Virginia, Lewiston and Andrews Farm.

They believe another man and a woman may also have been involved in the alleged murder.

The two men are expected to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Police are continuing their call for anyone who saw suspicious activity in Brady or Leach streets in Virginia on the night of Mr Middleton's death.

They have asked for dashcam vision of a 1998 Nissan Patrol with South Australian registration WDA-262 in Virginia's Phineas Street.

Police have seized seven vehicles over the crime.
