Two men arrested on suspicion of firearm offences after 'disturbance' in Old Trafford

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after a 'disturbance' in Old Trafford.

Police were called to the incident on Shrewsbury Street just before 2pm today (Friday).

Two men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of firearms offences.

They remain in custody for questioning.

Pictures taken at the scene earlier this afternoon show the road blocked off by several police vehicles.

A badly damaged black Volkswagen can be seen inside the cordon.

The front wheel of the car has fallen off completely.

Pictures also show two other damaged cars at the scene.

They appear to have been parked up on the road.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At 1.55pm on Friday 5 February 2021, police received a report of a disturbance on Shrewsbury Street, Old Trafford.

"Officers attended.

"Two men have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

"They remain in police custody for questioning."
