Two men arrested in Isaacs, extradited to face NSW court

The two men will face Queanbeyan Local Court.

Two men were extradited from the ACT to face the Queanbeyan Local Court on Thursday, one of whom was wanted by police in relation to the armed robbery of a jewellery store in western Sydney in December and a later kidnapping incident.

The two men, one aged 29 and another 30, were arrested in Isaacs on Wednesday. Items relevant to the investigation were also seized.

Police have alleged the older man was one of two perpetrators who used hammers to smash open a cabinet and steal jewellery and cash from a Pendle Hill jewellery store on December 12. They fled in a Nissan Qashqai stolen from a Wentworthville address the previous day.

The 30-year-old is also alleged to have been involved in a separate incident later that same day in which a 49-year-old man was ambushed in a car park at Wentworthville. The victim was stabbed twice in the leg, forced into the boot of a Nissan and driven to a Seven Hills address.

The victim was detained and forced to transfer money from his bank account. After several hours he was released and notified police.

NSW Police formed Strike Force Lilley to investigate the incidents.

It has also been alleged the older man, who was charged with eight offences, had been involved in a riot at a correctional centre at Parklea in August 2021.

The 29-year-old man was charged with six offences relating to a police pursuit and the injury to a police dog in the state's north-west in April 2019.
