Two men arrested in £220k drugs bust as cops raid rural Ayrshire property

Two young men have been arrested and charged following a major £220,000 drugs bust in Ayrshire.

Police attended a rural property near Dalmellington and seized a huge amount of drugs and machinery during a search on Monday night.

Two men, aged 25 and 26, were arrested and charged in relation to the production of controlled drugs

Both have been held in custody to appear at court.

Class C tablets, suspected to be benzodiazepines, with an estimated street value of around £220,000 and a quantity of class B drugs, believed to be cannabis, were seized.

Chief Inspector Nathan Calderwood, Area Commander for East Ayrshire, said: "Drugs have a devastating impact on the lives of individuals and cause misery in our communities - we are committed to tackling those involved in the production and supply of drugs.

"This is a significant recovery of tablets, machinery and other supplies. Each tablet in circulation has the potential to take a life.

"We will do all we can to support our partners and local residents in tackling issues of concern, work to promote recovery here in East Ayrshire and ensure the most vulnerable in our communities are linked with support available locally.

"I would encourage anyone with information on those involved in crime in their community to contact us."
