Two men arrested during protests outside Celtic Park after St Johnstone draw

Two men have been arrested during protests outside Celtic Park tonight.

The pair were detained in connection with disorder offences as Celtic fans gathered to vent their frustrations at the board and manager Neil Lennon.

Dozens of supporters headed to Parkhead following their side's 1-1 draw with St Johnstone, leaving Lennon's side with just 2 wins from their last 12 games.

Video footage showed fans shouting expletives and calling for the manager and board to be sacked.

Some fans could be chasing the team bus down as it left the ground in the east end of the city.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Daily Record: "Two men have been arrested in connection with disorder offences outside Celtic FC stadium in Glasgow

"The Scottish Government regulations are quite clear that these types of protest are prohibited in areas under level four restrictions.

"Our response has been measured and proportionate today.

"We will continue to engage with the public, explain the legislation and encourage compliance, using enforcement as a last resort."

Scots cops had earlier urged fans to avoid the planned protest - to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Chief Superintendent Mark Sutherland said fans should protest online instead - warning they event would be policed in a "measured and appropriate" way, but that officers would "use enforcement where required."
