A cannabis farm worth approximately £300,000 has been uncovered by Lanarkshire police as two men are arrested.

The cultivation, which was seized by police on Wednesday morning around 10.45am, was found in a commercial unit on Railway Road in Airdrie.

Approximately 500 plants were taken from the scene and two men have now been arrested.

The 29-year-old and 37-year-old were charged in connection with the incident and are due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court today, January 14.

Sergeant Ross Edgar, Lanarkshire Police Division, said: "We remain committed to tackling the production and sale of drugs across Lanarkshire and I would like to thank the public for their continued assistance in providing us with information that helps us carry out enforcement activity.

“If you have any information or concerns about drug misuse in your area, please report this to Police Scotland in confidence via 101, or to Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111.”
