Two men arrested after teen attacked on idyllic Scots island

Two men have been arrested after a teenager was attacked on an idyllic Scots island during the coronavirus lockdown.

An 18-year-old teenager was attacked in the early hours of Thursday, April 20 on the Isle of Lewis.

He was rushed to Western Isles Hospital with serious injuries after the 2am assault on Seaforth Road, Stornoway.

Officers have arrested a 19-year-old man and 21-year-old man in connection with the serious assault.

VisitScotland, Scotland's national tourism organisation, describes the Isle of Lewis and Isle of Harris as being "a dramatic island landscape."

VisitScotland.org adds: "Although it may sound like two separate islands, Lewis and Harris are actually two parts of the one island, with Stornoway on the east coast, the largest town of the island group.

"Catch the ferry to Lewis and Harris, and you'll soon be blown away by the ever-changing mix of terrains; mountains, hills, lunar-like rocky plateaus, moorlands, meadows, rugged coastlines and white sandy beaches all feature."

Police Scotland confirmed the arrests and said they are due to appear in court at a later date.
