Two men have been arrested in connection with a string of violent crimes in West Lothian.

The series of armed assaults took place largely in the Livingston area on Thursday, February 18 and into the early hours of the following day.

A 23-year-old man and a 26-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the incidents.

They are due to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Monday, February 22.

The arrests follow the string of horrific attacks, which included threatening a woman with a bladed weapon in Uphall.

The victim was attacked in the early hours of Thursday, but luckily escaped without serious injury.

Later at around 6.45pm, two men were threatened on Manitoba Avenue, Livingston.

Other incidents included the assault and robbery of an 18-year-old man which also saw an 18-year-old woman threatened.

A disturbance also occurred outside a chip shop on Kingsport Avenue.

While in Craigshill, a fight between a group resulted in an assault.

Two men were also spotted kicking and shouting at a door to a communal building in the same area.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: "Officers continue to conduct enquiries in relation to this series of offences and anyone who may have witnessed a crime, or not reported an incident to officers already, should come forward so we can thoroughly investigate.

"Anyone with information, or to report a crime, should contact officers via 101, or 999 in an emergency. A report can be given to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
