Two men arrested after shots fired on residential street

Two men were arrested after shots were fired on a residential street.

On Wednesday, August 18, police were called to reports that shots were fired on William Henry Street in Everton.

Officers attended the scene and found evidence consistent with a gun being fired.

Police said that no one has since come forward to report that they were injured during the incident.

William Henry Street was closed following the incident and images showed forensics, a large police presence at the scene and a cordon in place.

On Thursday police executed three warrants and arrested two people.

A 23-year-old man from the Aintree area was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life and obstructing the course of public justice.

A 30 year-old man, also from the Aintree area, was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life, committing an act with intent to pervert the course of justice and possession of a controlled drug Class B.

Both men have been released under investigation pending further enquiries and an investigation remains ongoing.

Detective Inspector John Fitzgerald said: “We are continuing to appeal for anyone with any information about this incident to come forward.

"There is no place on the streets of Merseyside for guns.

“We will act on all information provided on gun crime to remove weapons and those who use them from the community.

"Please come forward with what you know, directly or anonymously, and we will do the rest.”
