Two men arrested after road spikes end police pursuit

About 5.45pm on Thursday, July 23, police were called to Huntly Close, Edgeworth, following sightings of a stolen car.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District attended and observed the vehicle, which police said left the scene when they arrived.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle.

When it did not stop, a pursuit was initiated.

During the pursuit, police successfully deployed road spikes, with the vehicle coming to a stop on Hyndes Street, West Wallsend.

The two occupants of the vehicle - two men - were arrested on scene and taken to Toronto Police Station.

The passenger was released pending further inquiries.

The driver, 36-year-old Jamie Kurt Jarratt was charged with four offences:

He was refused bail and appear before Bail Division Court 2 today.

The man did not make a bail application and he was ordered to be detained at a mental health facility for assessment.
