Three men arrested after mother mowed down by car and killed in Killiney, Dublin

Three men aged in their 20s have been arrested in connection with the death of a mother-of-three who was mowed down by a car while she was out walking in Dublin last week.

Jacqueline (Jackie) McGovern, 54, was tragically killed after she was hit by a speeding car on Avondale Road in Killiney, Co Dublin on March 10.

The mum was mowed down by a getaway car after a shop robbery in nearby Dalkey - Dublin Live reports.

Jackie, a special needs teacher, was out walking with her best friend Audrey Behan, 51, who was also injured in the incident.

Three raiders who had minutes earlier held up a Centra fled the scene of the killing on foot.

But following a garda manhunt, three men have been arrested on Wednesday morning.

They are currently being detained at Dun Laoghaire and Dundrum Garda Stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Her husband Brendan McGovern described Jackie as his “soulmate”.

He said the raiders who left the mum of three dying on the road as they fled the crash scene in Dublin “took away the love of our lives”.

He added: “For 36 years we lived our dream together, Jackie was an absolutely gorgeous woman.

“They took the love of our lives away. She was the love of my life. We hope that justice is done.
