Two men arrested after mass brawl in gym

Two men were arrested after a fight in an Everlast gym.

The brawl broke out at around 10.25am in the Aintree gym on Ormskirk Road on Tuesday, February 28. Part of the incident was caught on camera and shared to social media.

The footage shows two pairs of men scuffling among the weights and cycling machines at the gym, throwing multiple punches. One of the men has a weight in his hand.

Police today said one person, a man in his 20s, went to hospital with a head injury. He has since been discharged from hospital after being described as being in a stable condition.

Two men, a 23-year-old, from Maghull ,and a 27-year-old, from Bootle, were arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault. They are still in police custody for questioning.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out, and anyone with any information, mobile phone or dashcam footage is asked to contact police. Anyone in the area with information, mobile phone or dashcam can contact us on 10, DM @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ with reference 23000173370."
