Two men arrested after man was stabbed multiple times in Ramsbottom

Two men have been arrested after a man was violently attacked in Ramsbottom last month.

Police were called at around 12.20am on Sunday, May 23, after reports of a stabbing were made.

Officers have established that four men — who were wearing balaclavas and wielding knives — exited a red VW Golf on Silver Street, Ramsbottom.

They then chased the victim — a 24 year old man — to Prince Street where they attacked him, stabbing him multiple times to the lower body.

Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He has since been discharged.

Two men, both aged 19, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

They have since been further arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs, and the theft of a motor vehicle.

The pair have since been released under investigation.

"Although we have arrested two people our investigation remains very much ongoing,” Detective Sergeant Dan Smith, of GMP's Bury district, said. “We are following all available lines of enquiry to identify the outstanding suspects and ensure all those responsible are brought to justice.

"The individuals responsible for this attack were travelling in a red VW Golf. If anyone was in the area on that night and saw this car, or has dashcam footage of this car and its occupants then please get in touch with police as soon as possible."
