Police have made two arrests following reports of gunshots in Whalley Range.
There are no reports of any injuries.
A number of streets have been sealed off however, with forensic investigators and detectives at the scene.
Police were called to Highbury Road in Whalley Range at 4.10pm on Wednesday after reports of a firearms discharge.
Greater Manchester Police said evidence of gunshots were later found at the scene.
It's understood part of Gildridge Road was also sealed off.

Two men aged in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences, the force said. Both are currently being questioned in custody. They have not been named.
In a statement, GMP said: "Police were called at around 4.10pm on Wednesday to reports of a firearms discharge on Highbury Road in the Whalley Range area of Manchester. Officers attended and found evidence of gunshots.
"Two men – aged in their 20s – have been arrested on suspicion of firearm offences and are being questioned by detectives. No injuries were reported.
"An investigation is underway and anyone with information is urged to contact police."
Police patrols have been stepped up.
Inspector John Picton said: "This was a frightening incident in broad daylight which thankfully has not caused any injuries but will have caused great shock in the community.
"I would like to reassure the public that we are treating this very seriously and have increased the number of high-visibility patrols in the area and a cordon remains in place while our enquiries continue.
"We have made two arrests but are keen to ensure we ascertain as many details as we can about this incident and I therefore encourage the public to get in touch with any information they can that may aid our investigation."
