Two men were arrested during a police stop and search after a 'gun' was found in a van.
Shortly after 6pm on Wednesday evening, police officers stopped a Ford Transit van on Wheatland Lane in Seacombe, Wallasey .
The people inside the van were searched and what is believed to be a gun was found by police.
Officers arrested the 41-year-old and 30-year-old and have taken the men to a police station for quesitoning.
A forensic investigation was launched at the scene, at the junction of St Paul's Road, with witnesses claiming that a cordon was also put in place before the van was removed from the area.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We have arrested two men following an incident in Seacombe this evening, Wednesday 20 November.
"At 6.15pm, a Ford Transit van was stopped on Wheatland Lane and the occupants were searched.
"A suspected firearm was recovered. The weapon and the vehicle will be forensically examined.
"A 41-year-old man from Moreton and a 30-year-old man from Birkenhead have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and taken to a police station for questioning."
