Two men arrested after Gardai find major haul of cocaine and cash in Co Waterford

Gardai have arrested two men after seizing cocaine worth €90,000 and €64,000 cash in Waterford on Friday.

Officers from the Divisional Drug Unit stopped two vehicles in the Butlerstown area at 2:30pm where the drugs and cash were found.

Two males, one in his 40s and the other in his 30s were arrested in connection with the incident.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí have arrested two men following the seizure of suspected cocaine and cash in Butlerstown, Co. Waterford.

"Gardaí attached to the Waterford Divisional Drugs unit carried out a search of two vehicles in Butlerstown shortly before 2:30pm yesterday, Friday 22nd January 2021. 

"During the course of the search approximately €90,000 of cocaine (pending analysis) and €64,000 in cash was seized.

"Two males, one in his 40s and the other in his 30s were arrested at the scene. Both men are currently being detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Waterford Garda station. They can be held for up to 7 days."
