Two men arrested after allegedly assaulting victims who refused to buy items from them

Two men have been arrested after allegedly assaulting victims who refused to buy items from them.

Police raced to Cults in Aberdeen yesterday after multiple aggressive pedlar incidents were reported.

One victim was allegedly attacked after a stranger approached their home in Kirk Brae and tried to flog some merchandise.

They had refused the items and were left with a head injury from an alleged altercation that broke out as a result.

Police then traced the suspect a short distance away after they had left the scene.

Both of the officers were then allegedly subjected to verbal and physical abuse.

A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection.

A 28-year-old man was also charged after allegedly threatening a woman who refused to buy items from him in Ashfield Road.

Sergeant Julie Smith from the Westend and Hazelhead Community Policing Team said: “We are aware of unlicensed sellers attempting door to door sales in the area and would urge the public to remain vigilant.

“Thankfully no-one was seriously injured during these incidents, however a member of the public and two police officers were both verbally and physically abused, which is wholly unacceptable.

“Both men are due to appear in Aberdeen Sheriff Court today (Friday, 03 September, 2021).”
