Police are appealing for witnesses after armed men forced their way into a home at Whitebridge on Sunday night.
Investigators have been told a 26-year-old man was at a Nicole Close home about 8.40pm when two men armed with knives broke in.
The pair - dressed in dark clothing and with their faces covered - demanded cash and personal items before they stole the man's white Holden Colorado from outside the home.
Lake Macquarie police are investigating the aggravated break and enter.
Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Nicole Close area between 8.30pm and 9pm on Sunday, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, is being asked to contact police.
Information can be passed on to investigators anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
