Two men armed with a handgun and an iron bar threatened staff and stole cash from a local post office.
The robbery took place in Little Island in Co Cork at around 9.30am this morning.
None of the staff working in the post office were harmed during the incident.
A garda spokesperson said: "Two men armed with what is believed to be a handgun and an iron bar entered the post office, threatened staff and left the scene with a small sum of cash.
"The two men left the scene in a black 05C car which has damage on either side.
"No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
"Witnesses are asked to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021-452200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station."
