Two men appear in court charged with the murder of Wayne Whelan in Dublin

Two men have appeared in court charged with the murder of Wayne Whelan, 42, last month.

Anthony Casserly, 23, with an address at Rowlagh Park, Clondalkin, Dublin, was brought before Blanchardstown District Court shortly after 11am this morning.

Casserly was dressed in a navy blue Nike tracksuit top and there was a large garda presence in the courthouse when he arrived.

Detective Sergeant Sean Cosgrove gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and told the court that Casserly made no reply when the charged at Ronanstown Garda Station at 10pm last night.

Judge David McHugh remanded Casserly in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court this Friday.

A second man, Christopher Moran, 50, also with an address at Rowlagh Park in Clondalkin, Dublin, is also charged with murder.

Moran was dressed in a green bomber jacket, navy jeans and runners.

Sergeant Ronan Dunne of Lucan Garda Station told the court that Moran was charged at 21.49pm last night.

When the charge was put to him, Moran replied: "No comment."

Moore was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court this Friday.
