Two men accused of wounding a Rochdale taxi driver have been given conditional bail after appearing at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.
Connor McPartland, 20, and Martin Treacy, 18, are both charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Ali Asghar with intent to do him grievous bodily harm in the early hours of Saturday (October 30) at Queensway in Rochdale.
McPartland, of Hollins Road, Oldham, is further charged with possession of a bladed article, namely a folding pocket knife.
McPartland and his mother, who attended the hearing, both sobbed as the charges were read out in court.
Both Treacy, of Gawsworth Close, Shaw, Oldham and McPartland were remanded on bail to Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester on December 6.
The defendants must report twice daily to their local police station, and are under curfew from 4pm to 8am daily.
They must not make contact with each other or any witnesses involved in the case and must not use a taxi.
Mr Asghar is said to be in a critical condition in hospital.
